As we pulled into the gravel parking lot of Nana’s Bloomers Green house I could feel the girl’s excitement grow. We hit a wall of humidity as the smell of potting soil surrounded us, the sight of so many beautiful flowers made it hard for their little feet to hold still. The second I let them go they ran from flower to flower smelling with exaggerated sniffs of toddlers. The wonder of this new place only increased when our friends showed up. Together they explored each green house looking for ladybugs and trying not to be tempted to pick every flower they saw.
Even though I had to make sure every flower wasn’t in shreds after we walked by, there is nothing more wonderful than getting to see a child’s first: the first time they try a yummy new food, the first time they go to a new place, or the first time they accomplish something new. Ember is only three and I am already longing to go back to the days she was a squishy ball of rolls. And I still miss Elysse’s tiny newborn toes but she’s almost two! Life flies by and it’s hard to remember it all. I’m so grateful to be able to use my photography to hold on to those moments and freeze them, so I can hold on to those firsts a little longer.
